The case that Mr. Thanh received the order on the day of the incident: The order was worth 375,000 VND, the products included floor cleaner, carpet, wet towels. The address of the person placing the order was on the other side of National Highway 1A in Hoa Phuoc Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang, not far from the shipper’s house.
On January 17, the male shipper received the order and delivered it. At 11am, he was at the customer’s delivery address and took a photo of the successful delivery to send to the company. However, at that time, the customer had not paid the shipper. According to regulations, the shipper can only complete the process after each order is delivered to the customer. However, although this order was delivered, the status on the app was still unsuccessful.
The representative of the delivery unit said: “I called to ask and Thanh said that he had urged many times but the customer had not transferred yet. I checked the system and it was true that there was a history of calls and messages from both sides with the content asking the customer to pay.” Also according to the representative of the unit, from 11am until the end of the day, it was unclear what conflicting exchanges there were between the customer and the male shipper, but by the end of the day on the delivery app, they received a 1* rating from the customer for the shipper.
The delivery unit immediately called the customer to ask for feedback, and the customer expressed her anger. “I told the customer that she was wrong first because she received the goods without transferring the money. Because she was late in paying, the shipper only received 4,000 VND for each order while spending a lot of time calling and texting to demand payment. This easily made the shipper angry and upset.
However, according to regulations, if the delivery person has a bad attitude and is reported by the customer and given a bad rating, he/she will be fined 500,000 VND. Shipper is very miserable, they work all day, earn very little, and if for an order of only 4,000 VND, they are fined 500,000 VND, it is very bad.

Relatives of the male shipper said that at 10pm on January 17, Thanh rode his motorbike to the female customer’s house to discuss payment for the order. The two sides argued, and Thanh returned late at night in an unusual state. He passed away at 0:30am on January 18.
The incident quickly spread on social media, causing a wave of sympathy for Thanh’s family situation. The child was left fatherless just before Tet, the family’s breadwinner was gone, the wife was heartbroken and in great pain. The 5-year-old daughter and the shipper’s wife sat in an empty house, without household items, the atmosphere was quiet.

We listened to any advice we gave him.
We have been married for several years but still do not have a house, we have to live in a dilapidated house. We hope everyone will sympathize and help our family. Seeing such a thing near Tet really makes me cry.”
Ms. Dinh Thi Dao said that during the Tet holidays, her husband received orders from morning to night to earn money to buy Tet gifts for his wife and children. A few days ago, Thanh received his salary and gave his wife 1.5 million VND to buy clothes for his wife and daughter. To show his love for Thanh, Ms. Dao went to the market to buy her husband three new sets of clothes to wear for Tet. The clothes were still in the box but Thanh passed away suddenly before he could wear them.
