Former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has announced his retirement once again. Is Tyson Fury retiring from boxing as he has publicly shared on his personal account?
In a 17-second video posted on Instagram, Fury said: “Hey everyone, I’ll keep it short and sweet and say I’m retiring from boxing. It’s been amazing and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ll end with this: Dick Turpin has put on a mask. God bless everyone, I’ll see you on the other side.”

Dick Turpin was an English robber and street robber whose criminal activities earned him notoriety in the early eighteenth century. It is unclear what Tyson Fury is referring to when he mentions him.
The 36-year-old’s announcement comes just weeks after he lost a highly anticipated rematch with Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk for the WBA, WBC and WBO world titles. The Ukrainian won the fight 116-112 on the three judges’ scorecards, much to Fury’s displeasure.
Oleksandr Usyk handed Tyson Fury the only professional defeat in the Brit’s tumultuous career, which included some incredible comebacks and a total of 34 wins and one draw.
Tyson Fury retires from boxing was a huge hit and received a lot of backlash from the community. However, this is not the first time Tyson Fury has announced his retirement. In April 2022, he said he would retire after defeating Dillian Whyte, only to return to the ring six months later. He also announced his retirement in 2013 and 2017.
Most of the comments under Tyson Fury’s retirement announcement video suggested that this was just a temporary emotional announcement. Despite losing his last two fights to Usyk, he is still one of the biggest figures in boxing and has great appeal to both fans and promoters.

Tyson Fury’s latest defeat to Usyk opens up the possibility of an epic fight between the two Brits and Anthony Joshua, a fight that has been talked about for years.
Tyson Fury’s recent announcement that he is retiring from boxing has now raised questions about the potential fight. Eddie Hearn (Joshua’s manager) said it is unlikely that we have seen the last of Tyson Fury. He hopes that the lure of facing Joshua in one of the biggest fights in British boxing history could convince Fury to fight again.

“You have to want it. You have to want to give the British public the biggest fight in the history of the sport. You have to want to fight AJ (Anthony Joshua) and win. If it was just about money, you would have had enough money,” Eddie Hearn said after learning of Tyson Fury’s retirement announcement.
I’m always an optimist. For me, when the AJ fight was a two-minute fight in a room, I was always hopeful. But Tyson Fury has earned the right to make his own decision. If he’s done, he’s done. If he’s not, we’ve got the biggest fight in the history of the sport. Only time will tell.
If Fury doesn’t want to fight, there’s nothing you can do. You can’t drag him into the fight. I don’t know if it’s a move to stop the pressure because with AJ calling him out, the pressure is on.”
Fury’s manager Spencer Brown said the announcement of Tyson Fury’s retirement from boxing was a “huge shock” to him. There has been no further information from the former British boxer, with fans around the world skeptical and looking forward to Fury’s return for future fights.
